Win or lose, the President’s Cup showcases JWGA camaraderie at its best. After a lot of bantering, laughs and a grueling competition, the Eagles and Tigers ended up in a tie. Current standings: Eagles – 7, Tigers – 5 and 3 ties. Many thanks to Kay Buirge for her efforts in running the President’s Cup for 15 consecutive years and to Delores Adams for always being at her side and willing to help.
We are off next week due to The TPC Players’ Championship. If you are volunteering or attending The Players’ event, have a great time.
Future JWGA Events:
March 15 – Bent Creek General Playday. This event is open for registration. The format is Best Net of 2 – Pick your own Partner. So, find a partner and sign up for this fun tournament.
March 29 – Blue Sky – Lone Ranger – Make your own foursome for this event which is now open for registration. The Lone Ranger is a fun foursome event. On every hole, one player in your foursome is assigned to be the Lone Ranger. On the 1st hole, player in position 1 on the scorecard will act as the Lone Ranger. On the 2nd hole, player in position 2 on the scorecard will act as the Lone Ranger. On the 3rd, player in position 3. On the 4th, player in position 4. The cycle then repeats throughout the rest of the round. When playing this format, you will count the Lone Ranger’s ball as well as the best ball of the other 3 players. So, two balls will be counted on each hole.
March 22 – Windy Harbor – To allow time to process our players through a security check, this tournament is closed for registration.
On March 8, signups will open for our three week Championship which takes place on April 5 (Amelia National), 12 (Queen’s Harbour) and 19 (Eagle Landing). If you cannot commit to all three weeks, please sign up as a NIT at the courses you can play. If we have 9 or more NIT players, you will compete in a LG/LN tournament for points.
- The Championship alternates between stroke play and match play. This year’s event is 54 holes of stroke play.
- Participants will be placed in flights of eight according to index. If a tie for eighth place exists after this procedure, it will be decided by a blind draw.
- Medalist: Low gross first day. In the event of a tie, the Medalist will be decided based on the scores of the second day. If still tied, duplicate prizes will be awarded.
- In the event of a tie, the Championship winner will be determined by a hole-by-hole play-off.
- All other ties shall be decided by the USGA Match of Cards procedure.
- Prizes will be awarded as follows: Overall Winner (Champion), and First and Second Place in each flight.
- Once a player has played in any round of the tournament, she will be ineligible to compete for NIT points in any rounds that may be played throughout the duration of the tournament.
Make it a great day!!
