Hello Ladies,
What a great start to our 2022-23 JWGA Season! Thank you to St. John’s Golf and Country Club and our Club Rep, Suzanne LaPlante who did a remarkable job of hosting and organizing nearly 100 ladies. And thank you to Emily Brown and Linda Trunick for their help with registration. It was great to have rangers out there today and we appreciate the pretzels provided by Emily Brown in honor of Mary Burnside.
We saw some low scores out there today. Congratulations to all of our flight winners and to Tama Caldabaugh and Theresa Quinn for their Low Gross scores of 73 followed by Donna Fiedorowicz with a 74. Our Low Net player today was Nan Simons with a Net 69. Team winners can be viewed on our website.
Our brand new member – Suk Hee Shin – scored a hole-in-one today. Congratulations Suk Hee! Just a reminder – we want to celebrate you so when someone in your group scores a hole-in-one, be sure to take a photo and forward it to Ana Leaird. In addition, let the club rep know so that the bar is prepared to serve us a libation.
Our next event, a foursome scramble at Fernandina Beach on September 28, is open for registration. This is a “make your own foursome” event so get your team together and register at myjwga.com.
Our 3 week Handicap Tournament is scheduled on October 5 (Eagle Harbor), 12 (Golf Club of Amelia Island) and 19 (South Hampton) and is also open for registration. This event consists of 3 rounds of singles match play followed by a shootout immediately following the final round. If you cannot commit to play all three weeks, please sign up as a NIT at the appropriate course. If we have 9 or more players, NITs will compete in a LG/LN event for points.
As you know, we rotate counties each season to select our charity endeavors. This season, the ladies of Duval County selected the Hubbard House. Linda Trunick is our liaison for this worthwhile charity and she will provide a donation box at registration for each of our events. You may donate by depositing cash or a check made out to Hubbard House into the donation box. In addition, donations can be made on the Hubbard House website. In the area designed for comments, please mention JWGA so we can keep accurate records of donations.
95th Anniversary – Don’t forget to order your commemorative golf towel in celebration of JWGA’s 95th Anniversary. Barb Jacobi is taking orders so please reach out to her.
Once again, I would like to thank our Board Members, Committee Members and our Club Reps for their continued support, hard work and dedication.
Make it a great day!
Linda Hoffman,
President – JWGA
