Congratulations to Debra McDermott, our 2024/25 Handicap Tournament Champion!!! Shootout Contenders were: Flight 1 Winner, Shari Zeimetz, Flight 2 Winner, Younghee Lee, Flight 3 Winner, Dot Peck and Flight 4 Winner, Debra McDermott. Special thanks to the course for permitting us to conduct our shoot out after the matches were done and supplying us with carts so our JW supporters could cheer on the Finalists. Jody Clark did an outstanding job of organizing and running this event. Special thanks to Shauna Snyder for assisting with the shootout. And, as always, thanks to Shari Zeimetz for all her efforts in handling registrations and cancellations, and for always being there to offer advice!
We’ve been noticing some slow play recently. It is important to keep a good pace of play so other golfers are not affected. Below are some tips for maintaining a good pace of play:
Slow play in golf is when a golfer takes too long to hit their shot, which can cause delays for other players. It can be caused by a number of factors, including a lack of etiquette or a player being unprepared.
-
- Taking too long to hit a shot: Players may take practice swings or spend too much time aligning their shot
- Being unprepared: Players may not be ready to hit when it’s their turn
- Not sharing the cart: Players may not walk enough during the round
Searching for balls: Players may spend too much time looking for their ball
- Taking too long to hit a shot: Players may take practice swings or spend too much time aligning their shot
How to avoid slow play
- Be ready to play when it’s your turn
- Use common sense and etiquette
- Take multiple clubs to your ball
- Read your putt while others are putting
- Watch your playing partners’ shots
How to deal with slow play
- Practice swings while waiting
- Enjoy the moment and relax
- Focus on what you can control
- Speak up if you think the group is falling behind
By utilizing these tips and being aware of your surroundings, you can help us all enjoy a better round of golf and help us avoid having to monitor play.
