It was a brisk start to the Mary Burnside tournament but the temperature rose as the day progressed and it turned out to be a beautiful day to honor our Members who have so selflessly served our Country. Jody Clark introduced Emily Brown and included a nice tribute to some of Emily’s many accomplishments. Emily then introduced not only our Military members, but also others who have served our country in many different capacities including Secret Service, CIA, and FBI. We are so grateful for all their sacrifices and contributions that have made it possible for us to enjoy the freedoms and advantages we have in our country! We are privileged and blessed. Then Emily kicked off the tournament with an impressive putt (there was never a doubt it was going to drop)! There was a sea of red, white and blue as our ladies battled it out for Low Gross and Low Net. Congratulations to Chris Hunt, our Low Gross winner with a score of 73 and Lisa Procter, our Low Net winner, with a score of 72.
Thank you to Terry Templeton, our Club Rep, for all her hard work in setting up this lovely event. And thanks to Betty Metz for assisting with check in. Special thanks to the staff at Deercreek for a spectacular day!
Next week is our final event of this year, our Christmas playday and meeting at Marsh Landing. There is still time to sign up if you haven’t already!
As we head into the Giving Season, please remember the JWGA Charity Endeavor: Oncourse Foundation. The On Course Foundation leverages the tenets of golf as a recovery vehicle for wounded, injured and sick veterans. It conducts programs coast to coast teaching its “members” how to play golf and business skills for careers in the golf industry. On Course Foundation then places members in golf jobs with Callaway, Invited (formerly ClubCorp), golf product manufacturers and service providers, and golf courses, country clubs and resorts. There are more than 2,000 members in the U.S. and abroad. Additional information is available at www.oncoursefoundationusa.org. Next week will be the final opportunity to purchase 50/50 raffle tickets, and the drawing will be held during lunch. There is still time to make donations as well. Please make your check payable to On Course Foundation or you can contribute cash as well. Don’t miss the opportunity to contribute to this wonderful organization!
Have a great week!
