What a beautiful day we had today at the Golf Club of Amelia Island -- no rain --- and the sun even came out a few times. Amazing considering the forecast from earlier in the week. We had a great day - congratulations to our low gross winner, Kathleen Walker, and to our low net winner, Debbie Somes, and to Carlene Caroccio for her win with just 29 putts. We celebrated our 87th Anniversary in style with Sue Burke providing for a wonderful luncheon including an ice cream bar. Thank you Sue! We even had a birthday cake ablaze with candles. As for our Business Meeting, I announced several changes the Board has initiated including the elimination of the use of combination tees. I also reminded everyone about posting their scores and posting them appropriately. Accurate posting is an individual player's responsibility and is core to our successful tournament administration. Lynne Sneed has done a fabulous job with her team in validating postings and addressing issues that arise. Faye Shepherd reminded everyone about the Mixed Couples Event coming up at the fabulous Plantation. If you have not signed up, get on it ladies as it will be a special day and will be your last opportunity to play Plantation for a couple of years as it will be closed to undergo renovations.
Next week we move to Jacksonville Golf and Country Club for our Championship qualifier. I have yet to figure out how to play 9 and 18 well -- sigh!
Birdies to each and everyone one of you ---except for maybe those in front of me for Pro Challenge Honors -- LOL!
Every two years, the process to choose new Officers is performed and that time is once again upon us. Below is the list of nominees for the election. The vote for the election of Officers will be held on Closing Day at San Jose on April 29, 2015.
