Hi Ladies,
We are quickly approaching our 2022-23 JWGA Season and are anticipating another fabulous year filled with camaraderie, friendship and exciting competition. Your Board has been working feverishly this summer to schedule our events, develop our new website, learn Golf Genius, select a charity endeavor and create a membership directory. We invite you to take a look at our new website by visiting myjwga.com and we hope that you will be impressed. I would like to thank our board and committee members for their continued support and hard work to make JWGA an enjoyable experience for all of us.
Registration for Opening Day begins on August 12 and we will be hosted by St. John’s Golf and Country Club on Monday, September 12. This is a 2BB Net of 4 tournament with an 8:30 shotgun and pairings are arranged. Lunch is included followed by a general meeting. If you cannot play golf but would like to join us for lunch only, please contact our Club Rep, Suzanne LaPlante.
How to Register for a JWGA Event:
There are 2 ways to register. Go to myjwga.com and click on “here” or click on “Schedule” in the menu bar. You will see our season schedule and the date each event opens for registration. To the right of each event, click on “View” and you will see the details of that event in our Golf Genius Portal. If an event is open, and you want to play, click on the event and fill out the registration form.
Scoring:
We will be using Golf Genius Live Scoring for all of our events. Helpful instructions on scoring using your Golf Genius app can be found on the JWGA Golf Genius portal. Only one person in your foursome needs to enter scores in Golf Genius. The second cart will keep a paper scorecard. During the round, please compare and verify that the Golf Genius scores agree with the paper scorecard. Upon completion of play, paper scorecards must be signed, attested and turned in at the scoring table. If the scoring committee finds a discrepancy between the Golf Genius scores and the paper scorecard, the scores on the signed and attested scorecard will prevail. Golf Genius will post everyone’s score.
Directories:
After golf on Opening Day, your new JWGA directory will be available to your Club Rep for distribution.
NAS:
Due to course renovations, NAS will not be ready for play on September 28. Rather than cancel the Mary Burnside tournament for the third consecutive year, we have scheduled it at Eagle Harbor on January 25.
Pro Challenge:
We were sorry to learn that Golf Genius is not able to track our Pro Challenge scores. Therefore, the board has voted to eliminate Pro Challenge.
Charitable Endeavor:
As you know, we rotate counties each season for our charitable endeavor and this year our ladies of Duval County selected Hubbard House. Established in 1976, Hubbard House is a certified, comprehensive domestic violence center which provides programs and services to more than 5,000 women, children and men annually in Duval and Baker counties.
Linda Trunick will be our Hubbard House liaison and will provide a donation box which will be available at the registration table for every event beginning Opening Day through Christmas. If you would like to make a donation to Hubbard House, you may do so by depositing cash or a check in the donation box. Your check should be made payable to Hubbard House. You may also donate through the Hubbard House website. In the space designed for comments, please mention JWGA so we can keep track of our total donations.
Season Reminders:
o Remember our payment policy is check or cash. If paying by cash, please have the exact amount in a sealed envelope with your name on the outside.
o Be at your carts and ready to go 15 minutes prior to our starting time.
o Remember to compare your Golf Genius scores with the paper scorecard and make corrections prior to dropping your scorecard off at the scoring table.
o Scorecards must be signed and attested.
Be sure to check your JWGA website frequently as it contains a wealth of useful information.
I look forward to seeing you on Opening Day.
Linda Hoffman,
President – JWGA
