It was another beautiful day and a great turnout for the first round of the Senior/Super Senior at South Hampton. A huge thank-you to our Club Rep, Barbara Biber for organizing us and to her helper Deborah Eady for handling registration.
We had some notable low scores today! In the Senior Division, Tama Caldabaugh is in the lead with a gross score of 72 and our net leader is Kim Barkyoumb with a score of 66. In the Super Senior Division, Sheila Brocki is our low gross leader with a score of 76 and our net leader is Terri Wensell with a score of 67. Please take a look at weekly results on our JW website for today’s flight winners.
Future Events:
Next up we have the second round of our Senior/Super Senior tournament at Eagle Landing on February 8 and the third and final round is on February 15 at Jax Beach. This tournament consists of the best 2 out of 3 rounds. The low gross super senior (68 years or older) wins the Mary Burnside Trophy – a crystal vase — while the low net super senior receives a silver ice bucket. The low gross senior (50 – 67 years) receives a crystal bowl, while the low net senior wins a silver ice cup. If you do not fall into either of those categories, you will play for points along with the rest of the field. Good luck to everyone.
February 22 – Mary Burnside – The Plantation – The low net winner of this event receives a crystal bowl. Low gross winner is also recognized. This tournament is named in honor of a former JWGA member who was a dedicated leader within the association. Due to the renovation taking place at The Plantation and limited parking, please CARPOOL.
March 1 – The President’s Cup at Fleming Island is open for registration. The President’s Cup is a one day tournament played under match play rules. The teams which were established at the 2008 inaugural event will remain the same and new players will be added to teams according to handicaps (to be determined by the Club Rep organizing the event.)
March 22 – Past President – Windy Harbor is open for registration. In the JWGA Past President tournament, everyone in the field plays for points. The Past President with the lowest net score will receive a wooden plaque with a gavel. In conjunction with this tournament, we incorporate Club Rep and Board Member competitions. There is one low net winner in each category. If a player is a member of more than one category, she will be assigned to a category according to the following priority: Past President, Board Member, Club Rep. No one is eligible to compete in more than one category. If you do not fall into any of the three categories mentioned, you will compete for points along with the rest of the field.
Championship Reminder: In order to be eligible to WIN the Championship, a member must have played in 5 play days and attended one business meeting/luncheon (Opening Day, Christmas, or Anniversary) prior to the start of this tournament.
Make it a Great Day!
Linda Hoffman,
President – JWGA
