FINALLY . . . after a 3 year hiatus, 80 ladies teed it up at the Plantation for the Mary Burnside tournament to honor all of our members who have served in the United States military. Our military members were recognized for their service and Emily Brown started the tournament off with a ceremonial putt. Dressed in red, white and blue, our ladies battled it out for the Low Gross and Low Net Mary Burnside trophies. Congratulations to Chris Hunt, our Low Gross winner with a score of 75 and to Tian Jones, our Low Net winner, with a score of 64. Our low putts winner today was Caryn Kasik with a score of 28. Please check our website to see all of our flight winners.
Thank you to Carol Williams, our Club Rep, and Dean Grunewald, Head Golf Professional for hosting us and coordinating this event in the midst of club house renovations. The Plantation always does a very professional job and they bent over backwards to make today a memorable experience including a group photo and the patriotic red, white and blue flags.

In addition, the Past President, Club Rep and Board Member with the lowest net score will be recognized.
- Please Note: In order to get on base, all players must comply with the Guest Security Procedures and protocols at Windy Harbor. This includes a security check. After you register for the tournament, send your Full Name (as it appears on your driver’s license), your date of birth (Month, Day and Year) and the last 4 digits of your social security number to Deborah Eady at eadyd_2000@yahoo.com. If you have an MWR Card to access the base, you do not need to send your information to Deborah.
- To allow enough time for Windy Harbor to perform their security check, this tournament closes for registration on March 1, earlier than normal. No sign-ups will be accepted after March 1. If you need to cancel, you may do so at the usual time. Questions relative to Golf Genius can be directed to Helen Short for this tournament.
March 29 – Blue Sky – Lone Ranger – Make your own foursome for this event which opens for registration on March 1. This Lone Ranger tournament is a fun format that is played with a foursome. On every hole, one player in that foursome is assigned to be the Lone Ranger. On the 1st hole, player in position 1 on the scorecard will act as the Lone Ranger. On the 2nd hole, player in position 2 on the scorecard will act as the Lone Ranger. On the 3rd, player in position 3. On the 4th, player in position 4. The cycle then repeats throughout the rest of the round. When playing this format, you will count the Lone Ranger’s ball as well as the best ball of the other 3 players. So, two balls will be counted on each hole.
I hope to see you at all of our events.
Make it a great day,
Linda Hoffman,
President – JWGA
