The first day of our Ringer Over/Under Tournament (revamped Senior/Super Senior) was held at South Hampton. Thanks to Barbara Biber and Pam Murdock for their help in checking us in and making sure things ran smoothly. And thanks to the folks at South Hampton for all their efforts in making our day successful!
It was a beautiful day with a bit of wind. The course was in good shape despite the mite damage to some of the greens. The sprinklers going off around 8:30 (reaching our carts) got the day off to an exciting start. Congratulations to Tama Caldabaugh and Jody Clark for shooting 71’s! Great playing Ladies! The final round of this event will be played February 12, again at South Hampton.
Next week is our Charity Tournament at Fernandina Beach GC. Our charity endeavor this season is The On Course Foundation. This organization leverages the tenets of golf as a recovery vehicle for wounded, injured and sick veterans. It conducts programs coast to coast teaching its “members” how to play golf and business skills for careers in the golf industry. On Course Foundation then places members in golf jobs with Callaway, Invited (formerly ClubCorp), golf product manufacturers and service providers, and golf courses, country clubs and resorts. There are more than 2,000 members in the U.S. and abroad. Additional information is available at www.oncoursefoundationusa.org. There will be fun silent auction items available that day, as well as a 50/50 raffle (the raffle will be ongoing until the Christmas Playday).
The donation box will be placed at the registration desk each week of play until our Christmas playday. Please make your check payable to On Course Foundation or you can contribute cash as well. Don’t miss the opportunity to contribute to this wonderful organization!
