It has come to our attention that there is some confusion regarding rules followed by JWGA. As an organization it is very important that we are all playing by the same set of rules. To clarify, for JW playdays the current Rules of the United States Golf Association and The R & A govern play. See Event Information/Tournament Information on the website for applicable Rules and Conditions for specific JWGA Tournaments. A complete text of Rules of Golf may be found on the USGA website.
There are four local rules established for JW playdays…they are listed below. Complete details and info regarding these are available on the JW Website under the Resources tab, JWGA local rules and terms.
The four local rules for JW are:
PROVISIONAL BALL FOR BALL IN A PENALTY AREA (Model Local Rule B-3)
IMMOVABLE OBSTRUCTIONS CLOSE TO PUTTING GREEN (Model Local Rule F-5)
SEAMS OF CUT TURF (Model Local Rule F-7)
PREFERRED LIES (Model Local Rule E-3) (Only in effect when course conditions warrant)
DOUBT AS TO PROCEDURE – Proceed under Rule 20.1.c(3) and report invoking this rule to the Committee. Failure to report the facts of the situation to the Committee will result in DISQUALIFICATION.
LOCAL RULES PLAYED AT YOUR OWN CLUBS DO NOT APPLY TO JW PLAYDAYS.
If you have any questions or would like further clarification about rules you can contact Shauna Snyder.
Some of you may be interested in participating in the First Tee Women’s Classic – April 7, 2025 – Slammer & Squire. Information for this event is available at https://bit.ly/firstteewomensclassic2025, or you can contact Linda Boland. All of the money for registration goes to the girls’ golf program at 1st Tee.
