Many thanks to David Hochbrueckner and his staff at Deercreek for hosting us today. Their warm welcome and professionalism are very much appreciated. Deercreek has undergone some renovations recently and it shows – this course was in great shape. We also need to thank Terry Templeton, our Club Rep, who worked with David, the banquet staff and Betty Metz to ensure everything from check-in to scoring ran smoothly. It does take a village and we appreciate everyone who works so hard to support JWGA.
Despite the forced carries at Deercreek, there were some remarkable results for today’s scramble. The scores were tight but those teams who prevailed scored between 56 and 59 net. Congratulations to the winners and please visit our website to view all of today’s results.
Check out our website to track the donations that have been made to our Hubbard House charity. As of November 18, we have collected $2305.00 in contributions to this very worthy cause. Thank you to everyone who has already donated. If you wish to donate, your donation can be placed in the donation box which will be available on the registration table at all of our events through Christmas. Or, donate on the Hubbard House website at hubbardhouse.org. In the box designed for comments, please mention JWGA so we can track our donations.
Sign-ups for the Grandmother’s tournament at St. John’s Golf and Country Club on December 7 are open until December 3 at noon. If you wish to sign up or edit your registration after December 3, please contact the Golf Genius person responsible for this event. By the way, that person is your’s truly, Linda Hoffman. In this Low Gross/Low Net flighted event, everyone in the field plays for points. There is no need to be a Grandmother to win points; however, the low net Grandmother in the field will take home the coveted trophy and a little cash.
We still have a few openings in the Christmas event at Sawgrass Country Club on December 12. If you don’t have a foursome, sign up as a single, twosome or threesome and we will pair you with others. The maximum number of players for this event is 120 and we are very close to reaching that amount. The format for this event is 2 BB net on the front nine and 1 BB net on the back nine and a lunch and general meeting will follow golf.
Please remember our Championship rule: While everyone can compete for prizes, in order to be eligible to WIN the Championship, a member must have played in 5 play days and attended one business meeting/luncheon (Opening Day, Christmas, or Anniversary) prior to the start of this tournament. The format for this year’s Championship is Match Play.
As a followup to my 11/13/22 email please update your calendars to reflect the following schedule changes:
January 25, 2023 – Eagle Harbor will host the Anniversary Tournament
February 22, 2023 – The Plantation will host the Mary Burnside Tournament – The clubhouse is closed for renovation so lunch is not available.
NOTE: Everyone is doing a great job with our Golf Genius live scoring. Please remember to compare your hard copy scorecard to your Golf Genius scorecard to ensure that the scores match. If there is a discrepancy, the scores on the signed and attested hard copy scorecard will prevail. And, be sure to sign and attest your scorecard.
As a courtesy to our host clubs and JW members, please remember to fill your divots and repair your ball marks.
Make it a great day!
Linda Hoffman,
President – JWGA
