Pin positions today at Amelia National were, shall we say, interesting! The first round of our Championship proved to be very exciting with Tama Caldabaugh and Chris Hunt tied for the lead with a remarkable gross score of 73. Chris Hunt snagged low putts with a score of 27. Due to the tie, next week’s round will determine our Medalist. Congratulations to our leaders and to all those who fought so hard on a very challenging course. Please visit myjwga.com to view all of today’s results.
We are grateful to the Amelia National staff for their professionalism and for hosting us today. Tonya Martin, our Club Rep, put a tremendous amount of effort into getting us organized and we appreciate her attention to detail. Thank you to Ann Rogers, Lou Tenarvits and Melinda McGrath for their help with registration.
Registration is now open for the following tournaments:
April 12 – JWGA Championship NIT – Queen’s Harbour – If we have 9 or more players, you will compete in a LG/LN tournament for points.
April 19 – JWGA Championship NIT – Eagle Landing – If we have 9 or more players, you will compete in a LG/LN tournament for points.
April 26 – Mixed Couples – Jacksonville Golf and Country Club – Don’t miss out on the opportunity to play in this special couples tournament. In this Pinehurst event, both players tee off, then they switch balls. Player A hits Player B’s drive, and vice-versa. They then select the best of the second shots, and from that point until the ball is holed they play only one ball in an alternate shot format. “His” and “hers” silver ice buckets are presented to the low gross and low net winning teams.
May 3 – St. John’s County Course – 1 Gross on the Even Holes plus 1 Net on the Odd Holes will determine your foursome’s score for this event. Registration opened today and you can make your own foursome. PLEASE NOTE: St. John’s County Course is located at 4900 Cypress Links Blvd, in Elkton. DO NOT confuse it with St. John’s Golf & Country Club on Hwy 210.
May 8 – Closing Day – Palencia – Closing Day will consist of golf, lunch and a general meeting. The format is Net 3 on 3’s, 2 on 4’s, 1 on 5’s and registration opens on April 10. This is a “make your own foursome” so get our team together for a day of competition, friendship and fun.
